Goree is a photographic print on light silk. It shows the ocean’s horizon as viewed from the doorway of the Maison des Esclaves on the island of Goree in Senegal. It was through this door that slaves were shipped to America.
The print hangs vertically in a space and it is constantly in motion, reacting to every movement happening in its surrounding. The work is composed of two pieces, and is like a sort of large door where the viewer can pass through.
